The Decade Fair: Celebrating 10 Years of DLRC

The Decade Fair was a grand event organised by DLRC to commemorate its 10th anniversary. It was an unforgettable experience that amazed everyone. Over three days — November 21, 22 and 23 — the campus transformed into a vibrant space of learning, fun, and camaraderie as students, teachers, parents, and guests from other schools came together to celebrate this remarkable milestone.

As soon as you entered the gates, you could sense the excitement in the air, suggesting that something special was taking place. The whole space was beautifully decorated with banners, paintings, and decorations made by us, the students, in every corner. The decorations were a fusion of creativity and knowledge, with the learnings from each subject showcased in respective stalls through interactive posters and models. The campus was buzzing with energy as all the students proudly displayed their hard work and research.

Primary, Middle School and High School had subject-wise sections. For instance, G2 students put up amazing displays on Maharashtra for Thematics.  The English room had displays from the Literature Circle conducted across grades. High School subjects like Psychology, Sociology, Travel and Tourism came together with interactive games and activities in the High School area.

As I moved from stall to stall, Janhavi from G4 shared her experience with me, 'I was in the Library next to Prathamesh Sir’s gemstone and currency collection. We had a stack of the most popular books available in our library. And in front of that, there were books from the Art and Cooking clubs. This display consisted of various stories that students had written, based on the synopsis of one story. It was really beautiful because you could see individual perspectives of the same book. They also had books published by Sowmya Ma’am which were kept on display. I had to explain the books in the Middle School section of the library. It was really fun for me because I did not have this experience in my previous school, and I also got to know different students who visited our school, and everyone was different and unique.'

The fair featured an incredible number of displays, each one for a different subject or school club. The Art club had an entire area showcasing different paintings and sculptures made by the students as well as the art teachers — such as the painting of Nataraja by Pradip Sir. The stalls weren't just for students from different schools, parents were also invited to participate in the activities set up by the students.

There was a wide variety of food stalls, with different refreshments, baked delights, and street food, with a different variety offered every day. Aarit from G3 shared his experience: “I was in the DL area and we were explaining how we made the dreamcatchers and pen stands that we created from bamboo, and it was really fun. The students from other schools told me how they made art and craft articles in their school and yeah, it was really fun to get to know them.”

What made the Decade Fair truly unique was the presence of students and teachers from neighbouring schools such as Vidya Valley, Sapling, Army Public School and several more who joined us for our celebrations. It was truly amazing to see everyone coming together and learning from each other.

The parents were also invited, which allowed them to witness the amount of hard work the students had put into all the projects.

The highlight of the three days of festivities was definitely all the performances by the students and facilitators, such as the folk song presented by G9, folk dances from all over the country by the Primary School Dance Club, the classical dance performance by Priyanka Ma’am and Katha Ma’am, and many other performances that helped set the tone for the days that were to follow.

Over the course of three days, the Decade Fair was buzzing with learning and fun. Everyone involved had a chance to learn something new. The Decade Fair wasn't just a celebration of 10 years of history, but also a chance to ignite excitement for what lies in the future. It was a great opportunity to come together as a community and celebrate everything that makes DLRC special.
