PRIMARY SCHOOL PROGRAMME

KINDERGARDEN (TRANSITION) to GRADE 4

Our project-and-play-based primary programme nurtures a love for nature and ignites a child's innate curiosity, creativity, and joy through a hands-on, interdisciplinary curriculum. Aligned with Cambridge Learning Outcomes, our innovative approach ensures personalised attention with a 12:1 student-teacher ratio.

Subjects: English, Hindi, Marathi, Numeracy, Thematics, Sports, Art, Music

Our unique programmes include:

*Environmental Literacy: A programme designed to make young people understand the importance of environmental sustainability, their place in the natural world and how we can become earth citizens. Our multi-pronged approach includes farming on campus, creating a no-trash zone, reducing and reusing materials to encourage eco-friendly lifestyles.

*Thematics: An integrated learning approach that combines Social Science, Science, Environment Studies, Music and Movement. Children learn concepts from multiple perspectives to develop a holistic understanding. A butterfly finds relevance across subjects at DLRC.

*Design Lab: From welding and carpentry to designing games and science-based toys, children learn to work with various materials and tools that teach them important hands-on skills.

*Nature Treks: Roasting corn on the cob in bonfires, walking through fields in the sun and fog, chatting happily with friends and facilitators – trekking is not an extracurricular activity for us. It is built into the timetable! Our children also interact with the local farmers and help in the fields during this time.

*Independent Exploration: We have dedicated student-led time that allows children to explore the campus, their skills and interests independently.

*Handwork: Learning to work with their hands is essential to developing gross and fine motor skills and aesthetics. From making their own bags to keychains, children learn skills such as knitting, embroidery, quilling and more.

*Enrichment Clubs: We offer a wide variety of clubs – from Vedic Math, woodwork, and needle work to book art – that children can explore and select according to their interests.

*Study Tours: We take children on study tours that are relevant to what they are learning in the classroom. Sipna Jungle, Someshwarwadi Rural Park, Empress Garden, Science Park, Joshi’s Miniature Train Museum and Shiva Shrushti are some of the locations that Primary School children have visited over the years.
